Scotiabank awards back-to-school contest winner

More prizes up for grabs in online contest

Nassau, The Bahamas, August 26, 2015 – Scotiabank has awarded the first winner in its back-to-school social media contest. Darron Bowe, Manager of Scotiabank's Main Branch presented Ashontae McQueen with her prize – a "goodie" bag of essential back-to-school items.

Participants in the online based contest have been utilizing the Scotiabank Bahamas Facebook and Twitter Pages to countdown the days remaining until school opens. Using the hashtag #TheCountdown, the public has been invited to post their favourite back to school pictures of their children or loved ones on the big day. The contest continues through to September 14, 2015 when persons will submit #FirstDayofSchool photos of their children (or the children in their lives), for chances to win one of two cash prizes of one thousand dollars ($1,000) each to cover back-to-school expenses. A Facebook and Twitter grand prize winner will be selected. Several smaller consolation prizes are also up for grabs.

"This is a fun and engaging promotion," said Leah R. Davis, Senior Manager of Marketing and Public Relations, Scotiabank. "It offers participants the freedom and flexibility of doing what they love – interacting with others on social media – for a chance to win exciting prizes."

Winners are determined solely through their online activities; those garnering the most Likes or Re-tweets will claim the winnings which will be awarded on September 16.

Scotiabank branches have life-size posters on display counting down the days to the first bell. Online the Bank continues to share practical tips and anecdotes relating to back-to-school preparation which parents and students find helpful.
